Dear Readers,

When I started teaching... I started reading. I read all the 6-8 grade literature and then more. I now LOVE reading and ALWAY have a book on my dresser. Reading lets my mind wonder into a new world without diapers and crying babies. But reading is more fun when you share. For this blog I will write about the GOOD books I read. I will write about books that are worthy of reading and ones I truly recommend. Enjoy your readings.

Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe

I learned teaching World History that this book help fuel the abolitionish in the 1850's. Uncle Tom's Cabin was the best-selling novel of the 19th century and became the second best-selling book of that century, following the Bible. In 1855, three years after it was published, it was called "the most popular novel of our day."

It is a story of an African American Man's Journey when Blacks had no rights. It is a story that truly shows how Blacks were treated. They were owned by white men and they had no identity. You will cry. You will cry. And at the end you will smile. This is a hard book to read, but well worth it.
